What is Thriving Avalon?

Thriving Avalon is a new review site that will put neurodiversity and disability first. Built by a neurodiverse and disabled team, Thriving Avalon will be a platform where users can get the information that actually matters to them, and where reviews are about the FULL experience, not just the food or parking. Find relevant access and inclusion details quickly, and feel confident, safe, and comfortable when deciding where to go.

What areas will the reviews address?

All sorts of things! To name just a few, there will be questions about:

  • Sensory experiences (lighting, noise, music, temperature)
  • Seating (table/booth, benches, moveable chairs and tables, width of aisles, comfort)
  • Accessibility (doors, ramps, restrooms, elevators)
  • Experience (dress code, wait to be seated/self seat, pickup options, ticket options, wait times, busy times)
  • Staff (friendly, experienced with access and disabilities, open to substitutions)
What types of businesses will be on the site?

Any business, location, or service that is open to the public can be reviewed. This includes restaurants, stores, museums, theaters, parks, libraries, etc.

Will there be a mobile app?

Eventually, yes! For now, we are focusing on the website.

When will the site be live?

We are still in the early stages of building, but we hope to be beta testing by the end of 2024. If you want to help us beta test, fill out our beta testing form.

Where does the name come from?

Avalon was an island, most commonly depicted in Arthurian legends, and is more than just a place. It was a community where people would go to be healed, be heard, and be a part of something bigger than themselves. Everybody was invited and welcomed; it was a community of peace. This website, Thriving Avalon, is going to become a platform to build a community where everyone can share the ins and outs of navigating the world.
